Ogoh Ogoh in Bali
Ogoh-ogoh are statues built for the Ngrupuk parade, which takes place on the eve of Nyepi day in Bali, Indonesia. Ogoh-ogoh normally have form of mythological beings, mostly demons. As with many creative endeavours based on Balinese Hinduism, the creation of Ogoh-ogoh represents spiritual aims inspired by Hindu philosophy.
The main purpose of the making of Ogoh-ogoh is the purification of the natural environment of any spiritual pollutants emitted from the activities of living beings (especially humans). The forms of Ogoh-ogoh represent the Bhuta-Kala (Bhuta: eternal energy, Kala: eternal time), according to Hindu teachings. The imperceptible potentials of nature cannot be thoroughly explored by anyone. Philosophically, civilized men are required to manage the natural resources without any attempts to damage the environment itself.
Aside from being the symbol of Bhuta-Kala, Ogoh-ogoh is considered a symbol of modes of nature that form the malicious characters of living beings. Ogoh-ogoh is usually made by the group of artists found in villages around Bali. After being paraded on a convoy around the town, finally it is burnt to ashes in a cemetery as a symbol of self-purification.
An Ogoh-ogoh is normally standing on a pad built of timber planks and bamboos. This pad is purposed to sustain the Ogoh-ogoh itself during its being lifted and carried around the village or the town's square. There are normally eight or more men carrying the Ogoh-ogoh on their shoulders. This procession is accompanied by music orchestra performed by the youth. The use of flares is also a main part of the parade.
During the procession, the Ogoh-ogoh is rotated counter clockwise three times. This act is done on every t-junction and roadcross of the village. Rotating the effigies during cremational parade and the eve of Nyepi represents the contact of the bodies with the spirits. It is aimed to bewilder the evil spirits so that they go away and cease harming human beings.

Sustaining the ideal body weight is not only essential, it is actually necessary to ensure good health and long life for the person. These food varieties pertain to delicacies which are enjoyable but withlow calorie content that you can digest soon enough. Grapes and oranges top the list. High fiber cereals will provide you the protein you need excluding the potential fat upsurge. Similar goes for curds. Potatoes which are also baked or boiled will include little fatty content.
3. Forget about the elevator, get the stairway. Having a hard time searching chances for exercises? Here's a nice fitness word of advice: get the stairway. Experts say that one step is equivalent to 50 common pacings when it comes to the number of calories burned. You need 10,000 common pacings per day. This indicates that if your workplace is on the fifth floor, taking the stairs daily will give for you your recommended amount of exercise.

A Funny But Inspiring Story About Fitness
People today are busy and they are constantly being pulled in different 20 directions. What often gets left off? Exercise. If you schedule exercise into your week at the beginning of each month, you will see that you are less likely to miss your training. Think I am nuts? Read this article for a funny but inspiring story to help you stick to your workout schedule.
Anyone who has ever worked with me personally or in my group training knows I am about accountability. So one of the things I am having my clients do this month is to make a huge effort to make fitness a priority. To do this, I am asking all of them to put their workouts down as an appointment in their calendar.
Why would I ask them to do this?
Simple. I deal with powerful and busy people. And they are constantly being pulled in different 20 directions.
If you schedule exercise into your week at the beginning of each month, you will see that you are less likely to miss your training.
Think I am nuts? Let me give you an example.
I have one client that changes the way she fills in her Blackberry calendar. Instead of "exercise" or "training", she writes "MENTAL HEALTH THERAPY".
In this woman's world if she does not get her workout in she feels sluggish, out of sorts, and is normally cranky (her words) if she misses a workout.
She tells the story of how someone was looking over her shoulder one day. The nosy mom said "Why don't we schedule a breakfast meeting for our book club?"
My client said, "Sure when would you like to meet?" As the busybody woman looked at my client's Blackberry calendar, she was shocked to see that this woman needed therapy 5 days a week. She must have thought she was truly out of her mind and clearly stayed away from scheduling the meeting anywhere around the appointment.
This worked wonders in two ways: 1) She was able to get her workout in and 2) Now she even had time to get cleaned up after her training. Nice!
I have had other clients use similar tactics when scheduling their workouts:
Cardiologist - This reminds him that he has heart issues and if he misses his appointment, he will spend his time in a waiting room instead of a weight room.
Blind Date - One of my clients was a young single woman who had just lost 70 lbs. She used this as a motivator to keep her from putting the weight back on so that she would never need to go on another blind date again.
Plastic Surgeon - This was another client's way of saying she always wanted to look vibrant. She was deathly afraid of needles and never wanted to go under the knife for surgery. A little vain, but it works for her!
Accountant - Some people consider me an accountant. I keep them accountable and it is easy to say I need to meet with my accountant and people would never think of making you miss an appointment with the tax man.
